With a particular sensitivity to natural form, Japanese artist Noa Hanyu sources rare woods, cutting them directly from the log before drying them for years. He then hand-shapes the piece with four feet to allow the tray to gently levitate above a surface. The tray has a colorless finish to showcase the intricacies of the natural wood while allowing for hand washing.

Noa Hanyu is a former industrial designer who studied woodworking at a vocational school before establishing his own unique style and studio in Ibaraki, Japan. He exhibits throughout Japan and is a winner of the Japan Crafts Competition, Takoaka Craft Competition, and the Asahi Contemporary Craft Competition.
