Details

Made in Belgium.

The striking, sculptural quality of this piece comes from its simplicity of form and ability to sit obliquely to the surface on which it's set. A signature limestone piece from British architect John Pawson. Made from natural French limestone from a quarry in Massangis, France. The limestone features a cloudy effect of speckling and visible fossils.

Variations to the surface of the bowl, such as visible fossils, are natural and unique to this stone.

British architect John Pawson is known for his rigorously simple architecture, practiced for over thirty years. Pawson focuses on the essence of space, fundamental design, and modesty in character. Buildings and product design are approached in the same manner: on the basis that “it’s all architecture.” Pawson’s product work spans a range of monastic tableware, stainless steel flatware, bronze and marble hurricanes, and wooden trays.
